6th Annual Workshop: Instrumentation for Personalized Medicine
Center for Analytical Instrumentation Development
Purdue University September 23th and 24th 2013

BioDynamic Imaging

Aims:

Acquisition and reconstruction of digital holograms to assess the health of living tissue through tumor image reconstruction.

Instructors:

Ran An & David Nolte

Instrumentation

A low-coherence superluminescent diode with a digital camera recording digital holograms of light scattered from living tissue

Experimental overview:

  1. Cancer tissue is illuminated by a superluminescent diode
  2. Digital holograms are recorded ona adigital camera
  3. Tumor images are digitally reconstructed

What you will learn:

  1. Digital holographic recording
  2. Dynamic light scattering
  3. Holographic reconstruction

Additional applications:

Personalize the best care for cancer patients, improve the success of preclinical drug trials, and increase successful pregnancies for in-vitro fertizliation patients.
